These are my translations of Russian songs written by various singer-songwriters during the dark times of the Soviet Union - Strangely, or not so strangely (for art often blossoms under oppression, the way a tree produces more fruit when its roots are stressed or its branches shorn), that period produced a flowering of beautiful and meaningful songs - In my multiple capacities as a songwriter, translator, guitar player and performer, I wanted to see if these songs survive when transplanted into the soil of the English language - Well, you can judge for yourself...
